Hakan Leblebicioglu is Professor of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology. He is working at Samsun Liv Hospital, Turkey. He was former Head of Department of Infectious and involved in clinical diagnostic services and infection control programs in Ondokuz Mayis University Hospital. His teaching experience includes clinical seminars and trainings on infectious diseases and postgraduate supervision of fellows. He has conducted workshops and courses in the area of effective communication, presentation skills, proposal and manuscript writing.

Professor Leblebicioglu serves as editor-in-chief Annals of Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobials, and editor of Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease. He also serves as a reviewer for the journals Clinical Infectious Diseases, Critical Care Medicine, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Hepatology, Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and Journal of Hospital Infection.



He is member of American Society for Microbiology (ASM), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE), European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) Study Group for Viral Hepatitis and Honorary chair of ESCMID Study Group  for Infections in travellers and migrants (ESGITM). He is mentor of European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID).

 

He also serves advisor for WHO on Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) and member of WHO CCHF guideline committee.

 

He is past president of Infectious Diseases & Clinical Microbiology Specialty Society of Turkey (EKMUD) and past member of Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA). He served on Turkish Medical Specialty Council from 2008 to 2011 and The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) (Group of Health Science Member) from 2004 to 2010.

He is author of 167 publications in peer-reviewed international medical journals, mainly in the field of infectious diseases, 76 publications in Turkish medical journals, editor of seven books in Turkish and author of six international textbooks. His articles have been cited 3792 times in articles published in journals listed in SCI His H index is 31.

​

His research interests include Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever, viral hepatitis and infections in travellers and migrants.

 

His hobbies include photography and travelling.
